London is one of the most difficult places to park in the world and drivers spend more on parking tickets than anywhere else in the country. It’s estimated that nearly six out of ten drivers have abandoned their search for space at least once, and more than a quarter have gotten into an argument with a fellow motorist over a parking space. Even when you do find a space, it can be difficult to decipher the street signage – this creates anxiety for drivers and increases the likelihood of being fined for an illegally parked car.
In January 2015 at the Las Vegas CES Conference, Mark Fields, CEO of Ford Motors announced to the world AppyParking’s partnership to supply high definition traffic management data (Last Meter Navigation™) for GoPark, their mobility offering.
The ongoing trial based in Islington, UK provides residents with knowledge about parking restrictions and space availability via the GoPark app. The data is also being used by the local authority for parking enforcement.
The Ford GoPark app has received a great response and articles have been featured in Wired and FastCo . Moreover, we’ve seen a meaningful impact among. All those interviewed had a positive experience and it has helped many users avoid fines. Drivers are spending less driving time looking for spaces and ultimately the app is helping to reduce congestion and pollution.
